Collective Agreement Distribution

Due to an apparent failure to deliver copies of our collective agreement to all teaching assistants, we are asking all employees without a copy to please email matthew.pettit(at)mail(dot)utoronto(dot)ca. Copies will be distributed to these workers through grad lounge mailboxes.

Remember, these - not your description of duties forms - are your contracts, and should be read and understood by everyone. Any questions can be forwarded to your CUPE stewards.

"Ontario’s wage freeze will protect thousands of jobs, Finance Minister says"

Proposed legislation allows provincial minister to vet and reject all public employee bargaining agreements - to ensure there are no wage or benefits increases - regardless of such agreements being acceptable to employees and employer. Can also impose contracts from above when bargaining fails to reach agreement or to live up to province's "no increase" principle. Strikes to be legal only up to the time when such a contract is imposed, rendering them absolutely toothless as a leverage tactic.

More details to follow soon pending further research and discussion by CUPE exec. Union response is in the works.
